In&Motion, a French company that develops airbag vests with data and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, has raised 10 million euros in a funding round led by Upfront Ventures, 360 Capital, and Bpifrance. The company was founded in 2014 by three engineers in Annecy, France.
The airbag vest system is powered by a small device called the "In&box," which is integrated into the airbag vest. The system relies on sensors and machine learning to detect falls and inflate the airbag in an extremely short amount of time. The company initially targeted professional motorcycle racers, but has since expanded to serve skiers, equestrians, and cyclists.
With the new funding, In&Motion plans to accelerate growth in France, expand internationally to Germany and the United States, and double the size of its team. The company's airbag technology has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the CES Innovation Award in 2018.
