French startup Green Impulse has raised €5m ($5.5m) in a funding round led by Ecotechnologies 2, with participation from Go Capital, Pays de Loire Développement and GwenneG. The firm, founded in 2019 by Alexandre Olivaud and Emmanuel Pajot, develops and markets biocontrol solutions for agriculture, with the aim of reducing pesticide use. The funding will be used to develop two new antifungal molecular products and help the company become a world leader in the sector.
Biocontrol is a growing area of interest for farmers and policymakers as they try to reduce their reliance on chemical pesticides. Green Impulse aims to promote 100% natural solutions that are safe for the environment and consumers.
Ecotechnologies 2 is managed by BPIFrance, the French public investment bank. It was launched in 2019 and has €200m ($220m) in funding to support companies working on environmental issues. Go Capital is a French venture capital firm that invests in startups in the Pays de la Loire region. Pays de Loire Développement is a public-private fund that supports projects in the region. GwenneG is a Breton investment fund that invests in innovative projects in the region.
The startup has previously received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and from the French government's Programme d'investissements d'avenir.
